Whats crazy about this is I know all of these principles. But I still choose to live in that imaginary world

The way I get over it is instead of imagining perfect moments with the guy, I imagine me doing something embarrassing in front of him or asking him out and him saying “eww no” Lol this works for me. Also something else: the person you’re thinking about obsessively is probably living their life and not thinking about you. These harsh truths can help ppl who suffer with this to get back to life, back to reality.

If that doesn’t work, I turn on “I want to be free” by the Ohio Players. Hope this helps someone

6:45 ''They have a kind of romantic movie running in theirs heads, but the limerent object doesnt have the script" - That hit me so much, because its so real. Amazing use of language used in this video that truly makes an impact. Thank you for that. I would have loved to watch this 2 years ago. I would save so much more pain and trouble :(

This was vert helpful.
My summary:
Get into a Recovery mindset:
1. It’s happening in your head so you can Train yourself out of that habit
2. They are not that special, in reality (see them clearly)
3. You can’t just be friends because they trigger patterns of behavior in you. You can’t be an authentic friend with someone who you want more from
4. You can’t predict how they will behave - no mind reading because you are projecting
5. You can only control your own behavior; a solution that depends on another person is no solution
6. Look to the future. Believe there is something better ahead. Find new sources of hope.

Can honestly say I have been in limerence for 5 years. Been hard to disconnect, but as I watch more of these helpful videos, I am facing and coping with it. It is one of the most difficult things I have had to go through. 😢

The strongest people will cherish and keep the memories but they will also move on. I was with a woman last year, we did everything together, went on vacations, she made me change to become a better person, she opened up to me about her life and how her parents divorced, etc and then we just drifted apart and became strangers again. I know how it feels.
