So, what I ended up hearing is, "YOU deal with medications", "YOU deal with anything that could be potentially dangerous", "YOU deal with the carseat", "YOU deal with car maintenance.

And that is why one partner ends up taking on everything.

I lived with a man who has adhd and I myself have adhd and dyslexia. It was an absolute disaster! I being the woman had to take on most of the planning and cleaning as we settled in and he got comfortable and stopped putting as much effort in . It literally just about killed me it was so stressful

You guys are so good at packaging this all up and telling us everything we already know. What do you focus on informing the person with ADHD on how they go about addressing their responsibilities towards a relationship. You need to offer more encouragement towards their good deeds thanks Coach. I’m so thankful that you remembered to think about me. So much for doing the dishes you’re awesome …. treat them like a child because they act like a child. ADHD is not an excuse

I wish you would talk about adhd partnerships and substance abuse which is common in people with adhd. What can the partner do about it?

I boyfriend and I lived 1 block from each other. A 10 year relationship that for the first 5 years his dopamine was running high with him. Then his dysregulation kicked in at work and he lost his job. From that point on things were never the same. Life was only about researching jobs, interviewing for jobs and finally getting his dream job. The dream job as a tech engineer for a Seattle company in A.i was like his new mistress. Alll ALL his focus went there. The next 5 years were about me waiting for a few bread crumbs of attention and increasing dysregulation and verbal attacks but any attention to me was … boring. I just ended it on no uncertain terms. He protested but I was done. With him gone 1 month now, I can focus on me and not his chaos. I don’t know how the speaker stays married to her husband. Life is not easy these days and you need to be clear headed and mutually support each other. There was NO support from him just his “wants and needs”. Why bother!😂

Shortly speaking: take it or leave it, pick and choose your responsibilities, look for the strong side of each partner and collaborate from there.
