If you enjoyed this episode, please do me a massive favour by clicking the 'like' button and subscribing to the channel. It's free and is the single biggest thing you can do to help me carry on my mission: to remind you every week that you're not broken, simply different and that you have always been enough. Thank you so much. Alex 💚

That was great. Jessica saying it's not your fault. Made me cry with relief. I'm a male but internalise the RSD episodes and they go over and over in my mind for hours.

I cried at it's not my fault. I have been filled with such shame and self loathing. Thank You!

I'm in tears watching this. It still alarms me when I speak to Mental Health professionals that they don't know what RSD is. RSD has ruined my life and I need to learn how to overcome this and manage it better.

"It feels like a burning prison you can't escape from."

SOMEONE PUT THIS FEELING INTO WORDS OH MY GOD THANK YOU. 😭I've never felt more seen and normal in my life than right now.

PRE-FAILURE... YES!! That's exactly what I struggle with! There is SO much I simply cannot bring myself to do because of assuming I'll fail at it. Even just trying to have fun. If I'll look silly, or not be good at something initially, I don't want to try it, because the fear of being mocked is crippling!

RSD is the worst thing about ADHD. I'm good at my job and I try my best, but when my boss tells me I'd done something wrong or I missed something, I take it oo personally you would not believe. The shame I experience is ridiculous, but it's true to me.

I can’t even begin to tell you how much this podcast has resonated with me. I’ve just turned 70, and only recently diagnosed, there are still conversations and incidents from 40 50 years ago that still rerun in my mind over and over. I am a perfectionist, a people pleaser among other things, this has caused me to walk away from so much in my life …… being a passionate photographer, editing and coming up with the final product turned into a nightmare for me. Everyone was happy with the results in the end but what I go through to get there, terrified of being called out as an imposter, or some sort of confrontation was exhausting. Probably being told as a child that I would never amount to anything, so when it came to education or trying something different I was basically told there was no point! 😢

I have had therapists that heaven forbid look at their watch during our session, boom thats it we are done, I never go back, it felt like such a gut punch. 63, just diagnosed and learning all this now,, makes me cry and go aha. I cant believe I made it this far. Let the healing begin!

The anger can last a minute or seconds but the shame from the your out bursts last forever.

Rage quitting jobs, I have done this a few times. I almost did it again just before Christmas but my manager wouldn’t let me. She gave me the rest of the day off and told me to sleep on it. I changed my mind the next day and felt so embarrassed that I overreacted.
