  I had an MRI of my knee because it had  caused pain occasionally if I turned suddenly while walking. But by the time I saw Ortho for MRI results, I was pain free. He said I had a ripped up meniscus and about five other knee issues and said I should have immediate total knee replacement and started talking all about the surgery and recovery. Then he asked me how severe the pain is and I said zero pain. I'm about to turn 76 and am a lifelong walker and very physically active overall. He said it's possible that after surgery I might not have full range of motion with bending my knee. I said why would I have surgery when I have no pain? That was two years ago. I did 8 months of physio therapy after I saw Ortho to strengthen my knees overall and am still pain free. So you are right!

  There are days my knees creak like an old wooden ship, it makes creeping up on people almost impossible ....lol.

  I've had so many traumas on my 62-yo R knee and I'm amazed it's still functioning and pain-free.  I wear a brace for cutting and racquet sports, but not for working out, walking, or bicycle riding.  I was even diagnosed with degenerative bone loss in my 40s.  Still feeling good, thankfully.

  This was so on time!  I just had a MRI on my knee yesterday!  Stabbing pain on the inside of my knee yesterday . I get the results next week.   Thanks docs!!!

  My husband had the locking + sharp pain. Early 60's. He did have some arthritis but physio said we can't help you. You need surgery. He had the meniscal tear repaired. Recovered quickly. Bur maintains daily knee exercises. Feels great.

  Really important points here - focus on patient not MRI report. Diagnostic reports need to carry a health warning especially as they could impact the patients behaviour. Like a detailed diagnostic on a vehicle - wheel bearing 50% worn, likely the car will continue to function for a long time - changing the bearings also comes with other risks and costs.

  Scariest part of my MRI report was the doctors review: "I told you what your problem was based on the xray, you didn’t need this MRI." I payed $1000 out of pocket for the MRI out of my thick headedness.
