  I wonder how many of those featured in this film lived until the end of May 1945.<br><br>Of the six men and boys named, only one, the bomb disposer, was killed in action. All the rest lived into old age. Most lived to see German reunification.

  While the film may have been intended to bolster morale, one wonders how many of the audience immediately realised the war was lost.

  Btw, to my knowledge the absolutely last Wochenschau was issued by the allies after the capitulation. After that they made their own newsreels under different names.

  Mein Opa hat bis zum 20.April 1945, den Krieg unversehrt überlebt, an dem Tag wurde er durch einen Granatsplitter schwer verletzt, &nbsp;da &nbsp;er sehr nah am Herzbeutel war, nicht entfernt.1974 begann er zu Wandern und hätte das Herz zerstört, da wurde er entfernt. Ein 5DM großes Stück, sein Spruch damals &quot;Das war mein Geschenk vom Führer!&quot; &nbsp;hat ihn im einen Fluß geworfen!

  My grandpa was drafted during the end at only 16 years old. He fled after his second week and surrendered to the british. He never talked about the war but I remember his pleading voice when he told me to never join the army his words and my grandmother retelling of having to drink puddle water and her mother crying because she could not give her food when she asked her, are the reasons I will never join the army or support entering a war. War is hell and with the death of the last generation that experienced it there are once again people talking about glory and ancestral pride. I will never forget the voice of my grandfather and the look in my grandmothers eyes when they spoke to me about war.

  No material was colorized in the original. They had a newsreel in true color called Panorama.
