I've seen a lot of documentaries on WW 2 history, and this is one of the best I've ever seen. Showing the actual locations on the map helped me to understand much clearer what happened.

As someone who is constantly stopping to look up maps and battle lines while reading books, the use of the maps and aerial photography in these videos is absolutely fascinating. Good stuff.

This story would make a great movie. Sort of like part 2 of Downfall. How they left the bunker but with more detail on each of them as they scrambled through Berlin.

My dad, then a 20 yr old GI, was on the Italian front. He didn't like to talk about it but once he did say while his CO was concentrated on not losing any more of his men at this point the Nazis were still fighting pointlessly to the bitter end. My uncle, a US Army Intelligence Officer, was in Berlin in the early days of the Occupation. He always pooh poohed talk of, say, Bormann escaping to Argentina. "Makes a good paperback thriller plot but no way anybody got out by the end of April!" was his assessment. Both gone now, although dad, who grew up to be a successful engineer and good family man, lived to 92. Really the Greatest Generation.

This was extremely well produced and covered the escape from the bunker brilliantly. Bormann's high school education was stopped when he joined the 55th Field Artillery Regiment as a gunner in June 1918, in the final months of World War I. He never saw action, but served garrison duty until 1919, and then joined the Nazi Party. Bormann did have an advantage while escaping over the other top Nazi's because he had no public image, unlike Goebbels, Himmler, Hitler, Goering, Ribbentrop, Jodl, Rommel etc,

This stuff is so interesting. My dad was a US Soldier during the war. I cherish every single story he told me, and there are several.
