  I grew up in Ottawa and in the late 60s we had a winter that left us with 13ft of snow and Feb was -40 all thru. We go out to play in the cold.It is sunny and bright so its great to be in. No bugs, no rain and you can make your own rink in your backyard. I shovelled driveways for pocket money and never needed to go to a gym. You learn to deal with the environment. We all survived just fine. My parents NEVER drove us to school, we walked every day and the weather would have to be a disaster for us to get a snow day. That was life growing up, that was NORMAL.

  Rain IS snow. Its raining , but it is to cold. So it turns into snow on its way down from the clouds. 😊👍

  can I add: when we were kids the boys sometimes made snow forts: from one to three walls around 6 feet high, with some windows (gun ports.) The ammunition was a pile of snowballs inside, to throw at us girls when we walked by going home from school. A snowball is made by compacting a ball of snow in your hands, so it is around the size and shape of a large baseball. To make a snow fort and snowballs the snow needs to be the wet kind and it can get slick, icy, and hard with working it. A snowball has the potential to hurt someone if very hard. Also, everyone made snow men, rolling up snow into several large balls, placed one on top of the other and sometimes clothed with a carrot nose, tree branches for arms, a hat, a jacket, whatever. Also, my husband (who grew up in Ontario,) had a backyard hockey rink, made by his father by hosing down the backyard with a stream of water, this froze and was used all winter. Nowadays in global warming we have freeze thaw cycles (here in Nova Scotia) and less snow than even 30 years ago.

  Yes, we open and close doors quickly . . if we don't, the Mama yells until we do.   And, I'm sure you noticed . . there are a whole lot of different types of snow, depending on weather and how long it's been on the ground, from so fluffy it floats in the wind, to so packed together you can makes shapes with it.

  I watched your other video about winter activities earlier today & you mentioned that you were preparing this one, so here I am. The video explains it pretty well, but the main trick is don't hate winter, embrace it: it's easier to go through the colder months when you're positive about it. And get proper clothes. Forget about fashion and think comfortable. staying indoors for 4 months is the worst thing to do: best way to catch season depression.

  I also have a battery charger for the car, I have jump cables, usually extra warm jackets/clothes. Extra windshield wash for low temperatures. Flashlight, and other things.
