  I just moved from urban Los Angeles to 60 acres in rural southeast Gorgia. Its 90% forest every morning I fill my coffee thromos and take my "chainsaw walk" I walk rotating sections of my forest thinning the half downed trees and getting to know the local plants and animals. It takes up about the same amount of time my commute in LA use to but Im much more relaxed after the chainsaw walk than the commute.

  I am a 73yo widow living in a 12 acre old and diverse forest. I do 90% of the land management (stewardship!). Over the 34 years I&apos;ve lived here I&apos;ve learned to naturalize the landscape and have a less is more attitude about making changes or altering the ecosystems. &nbsp;I do mow the wild grasses and plants adjacent to my house but only a few times a year or less. Longer grasses and ground cover naturally shade the earth and help with drought conditions. &nbsp;I have no junk or garbage and plenty of standing dead trees that the woodpeckers enjoy as well as fallen trees that serve the forest floor well. I spend most of my time enjoying the land I call home. &nbsp; I follow weather forecasts and take my homestead task leads from Nature itself. <br><br>This was a great episode!

  I sure wish people had this sort of mindset in general<br><br>Out here in Arizona people just cling to the idea that you NEED a nice grass lawn. We live in a desert, the only way to maintain a grass yard is to waste an obscene amount of water. Rather than just using what the desert provides… drives me up the wall, we sure could just the water anyway

  After spending my 20s, 30s, and 40s living in large burbs or larger cities, I just closed on a small house on 20 acres in Ozark country in Missouri. Can&apos;t wait to get moved and start watching the sunrise from my front porch every morning. 🤩
