I actually DO enjoy his “long-and-drawn-out” thinking process on this video regarding the stove pipe location because it shows all of us some of the thinking process that some of us NEED to do more often. Thorough thinking things through, while considering all the possible options, is something more people need to do more of because that would sure alleviate a lot of accidents in this world. :-)

If you build an air inled from the outside directly feeding the fire, it will be much more efficient and more comfortable inside. In Finland they sell double walled chimneys, where the outer pipe is the air intake and inner pipe is the air outlet. Resulting in the intake air being preheated before going to the burning chamber. This improves efficiency and works at the same time as thermal insulation.

2 Cents. Remove the corner paver in the center of the room. Cut the other 2 pavers at 45. It will make it look much nicer and better for moving around in a small space.
