Great video! Nobody ever points out the limitations or shortcomings of birds on the homestead or garden. And there are several to be aware of.

Absolute NO to guinea hens. I had some and they drove me insane. I had to get rid of them for my mental health. I like the idea of double fencing and having a chicken run around the outside. It keeps the fenceline clean and keeps the destructive little beasts contained. I have ducks and plan to get runner ducks and geese in the spring

Lots of good info. Some limitations though. I have 1 acre in a small town. Except for the ducks, all of these birds are LOUD. Geese are almost as bad as guineas. Chicken hens are relatively quiet but roosters. Eeek! The only bird I could have in this line up are ducks and Chicken Hens. If I wasn't in town this would be perfect!

Your map showing the location of Vergenoegd Farm near Stellenbosch is quite wrong. The Eerste River is not in the Free State /Kzn area of South Africa, but in the Western Cape near False Bay near Cape Town. I have visited it as we lived near there and kept both chickens (free ranging) and Dutch Call (miniature white ducks) for eggs.
