As a lowly production assistant on this film, it makes me happy when people discover this film for the first time. I remember when Carl Sagan passed away, while we were on Christmas break. Sad that he never got to see the completed film. Excellent reaction you two🍸🍸

Matthew McConaughey actually went on to do the exact thing he talked about doing here in Interstellar. It's a neat little connection between these two sci-fi modern classics.

Rip to the Arecibo Observatory. This is definitely one of my favorite Sci-Fi movies of all time. Definitely in my top 10

Underrated movie twist - "The fact that it recorded static isn't what interests me... What interests me is that it recorded approximately 18 hours of it"

The clip with Clinton is from his press conference when they discovered fossilized bacteria in a mars meteorite in the 1990s.

The Dad’s line “If it is just us, seems like an awful waste of space.” is a quote from the phenomenal astronomer Carl Sagan.

“The universe is a pretty big place. If it's just us, seems like an awful waste of space.” RIP Carl Sagan.

what most people don't seem to recognize is that the announcement at the 1936 Olympics was one of the first television broadcasts that was done at scale. of course we didn't have satellites yet, but it was still a very large transmission.

John Hurt is a legend. And everyone in this played their part so well. The talent of this team is really something special.

Anytime my depression gets too bad and uncontrolled, I literally turn on this movie and watch the opening. That opening is like a factory reset for me that still works to this day. It reminds me just how tiny, minuscule and ridiculous my problems seem in the grand scheme of the entire universe. It's so overwhelming and humbling when you compare everyday problems to the sheer scale of our own galaxy, let alone the entirety of the whole universe. I lost my mom last October and I've been watching this movie a lot. It definitely helps me

The scene of Jena Malone running down the hallway is one of the coolest cinematic tricks, and yet it barely goes noticed. That's what makes it so good. It nearly tricks your brain, you see it, you know its crazy but then just like that its gone.

Such a good movie. This one holds a special place because my dad is in this movie. He's one of the many faceless extras in the hearing at the end. RIP pops
