Reacher, in the books, is a stoic. He was in the military police and grew up on bases worldwide. He learned a long time ago that facial expression can telegraph moves. He's as much a student of psychology as he is a master of tactics.❤

I feel like what Kristen doesn't understand is that reacher is SUPPOSED to be very stoic and monotone and he doesn't really get emotional at a lot of things (some people argue he's autistic). He's not "putting up a front" either, he GENUINELY prefers to be left to himself instead of getting involved in everyone's problems but as the series says, trouble just seems to find him.

There are 30 Jack Reacher novels, and the number one rule is that Reacher doesn’t change. He has no character arc. Kristen will be very disappointed if she expects him to evolve over the course of this series.

Reacher of the books is pretty much how Ritchson looks. Lee Child is a tall guy. He was a TV executive in Manchester UK and was made redundant. He and his wife were at the supermarket and he was contemplating what his next job might be and helped another shopper get some item off a top shelf. His wife saw this and said “you could always get a job as a reacher”
