Leaves always drop in the middle of my condensor and plug up the drain holes so would end up having to take the top off to clean up the middle anyway.

I get much better results taking the lid off and using a cleaner. Plus you need to check and remove larger debris from the bottom and make sure the drainage holes in the pan are clear. Sure it's not easier, but nothing good comes easy.

I sorry but I’ve been doing ac for 50 years. On the two row coils the dirt will pull through the first coil and get caught on the 2nd coil and create a carpet in between the two coils. So yes you do have to split them apart to clean them. Especially if you’re in an area where there’s a lot of Cottonwood or Cotton weeds or Cottonwood trees.

Living in a very dusty farm area I think I will continue to remove my sides/ fin slats. I just really like being able to see all sides of the condenser while cleaning. Thank you for the video.

The first time I cleaned mine was about 5 years after owning it. The coils had what looked like a thick layer of shag carpet. I removed the top fan cover and side grates and used a shop vac to vacuum clean the coils. Worked great. Now I service it every year using the water hose.
