Helpful video! I’m Donnie B from Waverly Tennessee. I had some issues with leaking during the nitrogen test so I applied some Nylog Blue gasket and thread sealant to all the flare connections, re-pressurized the system to about 220 PSI, went over it with soap bubbles and came back about 24 hours, recheck the pressure and no leaks!

The sizing point is one people skip all the time and then wonder why their new mini split feels off or the humidity never drops. Short cycling from an oversized unit is a real problem and it's not always obvious until summer is in full swing. The install quality stuff is solid too - flare connections and proper vacuum pulls are where a lot of DIY installs quietly fail months later. If someone's on the fence about tackling this themselves, the nitrogen pressure test step alone is enough to make a lot of people reconsider going pro. ARS/Rescue Rooter handles mini split installs in some markets and at least you'd get a written estimate upfront, though availability varies by location and they're not always the cheapest option, so comparing a couple quotes before committing is still worth doing.

The other reason for not mounting a unit too close to the ceiling has to be ease of cleaning.<br><br>The other thing I would comment on is to place a smear of some vac pump oil on the flare seats before connecting pipes to the units. This makes a good hydraulic seal so you don't need to use thread sealant

Very important...indoor head level,level,level. Horizontally and vertically. Drain to the right hand side at a 20 degree pitch. Keep filters clean.

Use the factory provided flare nut. Not the one your universal line set comes with.

I was taught many years ago that when you do your flares, make sure that when you stick the pipe in your flair to when you torque it down and get ready to do the flare that that pipe is sticking out at least like a dime size 10 cents. And if it’s bigger pipe 3/8 three-quarter, I always hit it twice with my flaring tool versus flaring the quarter pipe only once. just because it’s smaller. Never once have I used a torque wrench haven’t had a refrigerant leak.!!!! Keep up the good videos after doing it for so many years you get used to knowing what the torque is. Nitrogen test doesn’t lie.
