  These are all incredibly common mistakes and usually just about everyone has made 2-3 of them at some point.  Out of curiosity, which ones of these were you unaware of?  Thanks!

  Main 2 tips: 1) keep your compressor coil outside clean from dust and lawn trimmings  by rinsing 2) re- insulate the exterior coolant line with a fresh black foam sleeve.

  I installed a shutoff on my condensate line right at the air handler. Then, a little farther down the line, installed a Schrader valve. I shut off the valve, then use my garage air compressor to blow the line out anytime I want. It works amazingly well.

  Air filters capture particulates on either side (with a few unique exceptions) the airflow direction comes down entirely to structural integrity/reinforcement.

Don&apos;t just look at the old capacitor number, look up your air unit online and make sure you purchase the correct size. Here is why: &nbsp;I&apos;ve had so many technicians put the wrong size capacitor on my unit that we were calling them once a year to replace it. I asked one of them &quot;why is this going out every year?&quot; and he said &quot;New capacitors are lower quality because they don&apos;t have PCBs in them.&quot; That didn&apos;t sound right to me so I looked it up on the internet and it turns out it was the wrong size cap. We then purchased the correct size for 30 bucks rather than from a technician for 180$. The issue went away where we didn&apos;t have the problem again. I&apos;m fully convinced this is the major money maker for air conditioning companies and they are motivated to stick the wrong size capacitor on your unit for repeat business. Also, It might not be a dishonest practice, &nbsp;it just came down to: &quot;that&apos;s all they had on the truck that day&quot; or &nbsp;You had the wrong size capacitor to begin with and the technician just replace d it with what he saw. Thus a never ending cycle of wrong. This why I say look it up.

  This video was very informative, this whole time with years of schooling and 2 decades of residential, commercial, and industrial hvac experience, I had it all slightly wrong. I thought that the bigger freon line was the suction line that was connected to the compressor (where the compressor was sucking the low pressure freon vapor from out of the evaporator coil), which it still is important to have the entire line (not just that 3ft outside piece) insulated, due to heat exchange like thermodynamics would dictate. Also if you wanted to clean your own condenser coils you might turn the power off and then spray a heavy alkaline cleaner on them that has a chemical reaction with the aluminum fins, then once that has run it&apos;s course you could spray water from the inside of the coil directed out at a 90 degree angle like the manufacturer recommends, don&apos;t forget to clean out all of the drain holes in the bottom of the condenser to allow rain water and the water used for cleaning to escape (which is the #1 reason for units rotting out). And last but not least you should give this guy money for some reason

  When changing out a cap I also take a picture AND when I take off a wire I immediately put on the new cap

  Foaming condenser coil cleaner break down the dirt and pushes the debris out from between the find. Then do a thorough rinse from top to bottom until the water is clean and there on cleaner residue on the coil. Also first jet water under the condenser channels to wash out grass cutting &amp; other debris.

  Common coil cleaning products can cause the fins to decouple from the tubes if not used properly, if you use any of these products, follow the directions EXACTLY. Plain water will work just fine on common dust and dirt, if you can see light through the fins, it’s all good.
