I have so many creative projects that I've started but not finished that I've been awarded a black belt in Partial Arts.

Only 19 seconds in and I can 100% relate: dumped 100s of decisions onto my bed in effort to organize; haven’t slept there in 6 months.

The "Put it in a box" is a trap for my ADHD. The sense of the stuff having a spot now and that I've dealt with it means this stuff will never leave this box. It's too easy for you to put the box in the basement. That stuff is trash now. Unless you put a time slot for you to go through that specific box and really deal with it, that box will never be solved.

I've been working virtually with Alison for over 3.5 years now, after following her work on Tiktok for a couple of years prior.
She is absolutely right that skills can be learnt and that having a non-judgemental community is so crucial. This work has been life changing for me 😊

I am a person who likes to be organized and I am sensitive to the aesthetics of my environment. My husband of 40 years has ADD. He doesn’t notice messiness. He has trouble with misplacing and finding things. He does things in a panic at the very last minute. Over the years I’ve worked to provide places to put things near where he uses them. I put waste paper baskets near wherever he usually sits. In his bathroom, he’s created a system where everything he uses goes into a shallow basket that he can put into a drawer if we have guests or cleaners. I don’t know why he can’t just open a drawer and see these things.
One of the biggest mistakes I made at first was putting large closed baskets where his clutter gathers. These are “clutter bunkers” I learned from an organizer. They fill up and then he has to go through them. So avoid the clutter bunker. Our marriage has survived thanks to our love, our hired cleaners and my constant creation of places where he can easily find his things.

Painter’s tape and a sharpie is also easier to read from across the room than those dinky little labels from a label maker.
