I want stability but I’m bored to death at my job. I want connection but I’m terrified of intimacy. I want order but I can’t keep things orderly no matter how hard I try. I want to be myself but I’m always afraid of being too much.

"When no one is in your corner because no one thinks you need help." That. Exactly that.

Ok. I was rolling my eyes about people crying over this video, but then I heard her say “maybe you can make friendships, but you can’t maintain them. And maybe not being able to maintain them is the most painful part.” 😭 10:23

I was already diagnosed adhd first. Then when I had my autism assessment and he diagnosed me he told me at the end. “I want you to know now, that you won't feel like you fit with adhd people, but you also won't fit with autisic people, don't be disheartened. You need to find people with both disorders because together it's something totally different.”And that's when I went looking and I found audhd. And I totally get it now he was right 100%

Molecular Biologist here with AuDHD who is also a photographer and executive OA in aerospace. I have always had multiple jobs, deal with RSD, had childhood trauma and adult trauma as I entered into emotionally abusive relationships. I had to learn not everyone has the same heart as me and I do not have to prove my worth to get love. I had to realize I also did self harm by accepting people I "fix" as I see potential in people. I held space for everyone else, but me. I poured into everyone else and had to realize my lack of safety made me fight for "safety" over finding actual safe people. I am gullible as I am very honest and loyal, I always assumed most people were and had to wake up to reality. I have always been told I was strong and did not need help, but I DO need help, even though I am strong as hell. Everyone needs help.

I want the world around me to be structured, stable, and steady so I have the freedom to try all the new things with a safe place to land. I desperately need to explore ideas but I also need that structure to keep my world from unraveling. If I'm not experiencing novelty, I'm bored to death. If my world is too chaotic and unstructured I'm anxious. It's a difficult balance to keep.

I’d love to hear a guest discuss AuDHD in (autistic) burnout… trying to deal with that when your own brain has contradictory root desires

I’m soooooooo happy she spoke about work/career as I’ve always thought my resumé was evidence of AuDHD. My resumé is all over the place. My autistic side loves numbers and patterns and naturally chose a “boring career” in finance/accounting. I’ve gone from Billing Research for a major conglomerate, but my ADHD side got bored when I was succeeding in my role and became a wedding dress saleswoman. Then went back to finance and became a mortgage broker. Got bored again and became a fitness instructor (almost to national trainer level), then got bored and went back into finance (this time with the government). Guess what? Got bored again and became a crochet and knitting pattern designer and writer, started working for yarn companies and magazines/publishing companies. Then got bored and went back to finance, again for the government but this time in taxes. Funny enough, when I was 17, I was hospitalized for bipolar disorder which turned out I didn’t have. It was probably AuDHD all along.

I am a late diagnosed autistic female who found out I was gifted when I was six. It took me 47 years and working from home to control my environment to understand what I believe happens to us. In the wrong environments, we are invalidated, disciplined, and bullied for being ourselves to the point of our personalities are a trauma response. We people please to survive because when we are our authentic selves our experience is so different that we upset people with our truth. I believe empathetic people vibrate at a frequency that causes cognitive dissonance in people who do not experience the full spectrum of reality that sensitive women are decoding.
