My favourite portable format was minidisc - the little players were tech porn at the time!

I still have my Sony Discman and it still works. It is nice to see new ones come out

I think my use case would be as a bedside CD player. Some evenings I feel like chilling in my headphones, away from any screen based distractions.

CDs never left. They are just getting stronger.

I just bought the Fiio player for my teenage daughter. It’s a cheap and convenient way to bring CD audio to her Sonos speaker and also won’t add much to the clutter in her room! There are a decent number of CDs in my collection that aren’t on Spotify, so I am sure I will also give it a go. It’s basically a cheap way to bring occasional CD playing to a setup that is predominantly focused streaming, where I just want to check out some old CD’s out of curiosity, rather than pay a rather more sizeable amount for a more traditional CD transport.

They both look pretty cool to me and I’m glad to see some makers getting back in the game. Surprised at how much larger they seem compared to my old Sony with 40 sec anti shock. I can see CD’s eventually making a resurgence with the younger crowd the way vinyl has with millennials.

0:25 Whoa, that rekindled a memory from 1991 when I sat outside of Our Price and rocked away to a CD I had purchased from that record store - several people stopped and stared at my Sony Discman, and some asked questions about it like it was some alien technology...🤣

Chelsea here again from down under. I bought both the FiiO in silver (sadly not the clear lid but maybe one day) and the Moondrop Discdream 2 the standard one. I am so into this hobby now. Mind you I am nowhere as advanced or as knowledgeable or able to purchased the high end stuff. However, watching others videos and asking questions, I know have a awesome home set up, I've added to my CD collection, even added some new records, and I've now got a way to listen to my music out and about.
Thanks to your channel and Arron's channel I'm enjoying music again like the way it should be.
Cheers
Chels

You’ve mentioned the two biggest non-starters for both of these products. They’re absolutely enormous, and the built-in battery is planned obsolescence. I want a true portable, with good sound, build quality, and standard batteries.
