  And for me the most important part of buying new physical media is that the artist gets paid. A lot more than streaming.

  Talk about friction… I remember sitting with my finger on the record button of my cassette player waiting for a good song to come on the radio.

  My 16yo daughter found all my old CD's from the 90's when I was in high school. It's all she listens to now. She prefers CD"s.

  A 20-something I work with asked me for advice on buying a turntable recently. She had a Taylor Swift record she bought just to have it. Essentially a souvenir. She decided she wanted to listen to it, but had no idea how. Of course she was interested in a suitcase, because they&apos;re cute. I asked about her budget and if she was interested in CDs or cassettes. She wasn&apos;t, so I had her buy a set of Edifier powered speakers. No, they&apos;re not HiFi, but they&apos;re good enough for someone who&apos;s never listened to anything that wasn&apos;t on Spotify through her iPhone. I dug out an AT-LP60 and an ART DJ PreII I had and just gave them to her. I helped her set it up and she was ecstatic. <br><br>A couple of weeks later, she asked me about record stores.

  One of the joys of listening to CDs is knowing your music isn’t tracked on a remote server, letting you enjoy it with a true sense of freedom.

  I remember driving to Musicland to buy an album or cd and having to wait, what felt like, forever to drive home to listen to it. Friction. It felt earned.

  People are finding out being lazy and having music at the fingertips isn&apos;t so satisfying. Getting up and physically dropping a cartridge on a record or inserting a cd brings life to the music.

  I’m 67 now and one of my favourite things to do when I was in my 20’s was to buy new albums on pay day and then record them on cassettes then play them in my Walkman. <br>Guy Canada 🇨🇦

  Nothing beats physical media. We own the music we collect.

  I made it this far, and really like your channel. I kid you not, on Friday I went to buy a 3-head cassette player from a random dude on CL who needed to downsize. We started talking gear (because, of course we did) and asked as he pointed to his DAC, &quot;hey, have you heard of Cheapaudioman?&quot; I wanted to say, &quot;but of course&quot; but he may have been slightly too young for that reference. So I settled on &quot;totally!&quot; Anyway, he said he you turned him onto that unit and really appreciated your recommendations. Another round of &quot;totally&quot; was on the menu. I don&apos;t know what the odds of that interaction was but it was cool.

  Ownership is important. After years of subscription services, I started buying movies in physical form again a few years, so I can rip them and add them to my movie server. It gives me modern day convenience and I no longer have to worry about losing access to the movies I want to watch. I know lots of people just download those movies, but I refuse to pirate my media. There&apos;s some borderline legality in some countries, when it comes to making digital copies of movies, even if you actually own them - but it&apos;s legal where I live. Every single file on that server exists in physical form down in my basement, and that&apos;s what matters to me.
