I actually went thru the five stages of grief during my deconstruction - that's how hard it is for those raised in the Jesus Cult.

Purity culture affects men too. We also received a ton of shame/blame/guilt for our sexuality, needs/desires. It’s toxic all around for boy/girls/men/women. I hope it stops soon!

I questioned everything as a child, I was constantly in trouble from the grownups, from the time I was 6, 7, 8, on and on. The stories read to me did not make sense to me from the Adam and Eve story to the Jesus story. I was yelled at, threatened, and told time after time I would be in Hell for all time. I don't care what people think of me on that subject, but where I am at now did not happen over night. I am 65 yrs. old, been working on me for at least 40 of those yrs. Congratulations to you and people like you, I root for you everyday
