  About the old testament - I have met a priest who taught religious studies at our college. I went to his office hours to discuss my issues with the christian faith - long story short, he said he believed in the God of the Bible and in order to make that belief work with the old testament he does not believe that God is all-loving or merciful. He admited to believing in a cruel, powerful christian God. And it was a very interesting moment that stuck with me. Imagine dedicating your life to a cruel deity out of fear. I feel a little sad for that priest.

  Traditionally, questions like &apos;where did we come from&apos;, &apos;where did the world come from&apos;, and &apos;what happens after death&apos;, have been considered secondary to &apos;do I have enough food for today&apos;, &apos;do I have enough food for tomorrow&apos;, &apos;do I have enough food for the winter&apos;, and &apos;is this water clean&apos;.<br><br>Once you realize that thinking about existential questions was, for the longest time in history, reserved for a privileged upper class, namely shamans and priests, many parts of religion start to make a lot of sense.

  You know when I first started to doubt what I had been taught is .. I just could not accept the fact that good people were going to hell just because they weren&apos;t &quot;saved&quot;... I used to fear hell. I was raised in a Independent Baptist Church.... Thank you so much for everything you&apos;re doing to help people like me!!!!!!

  I was Christian when I was a kid but I always had the nagging feeling that something wasn&apos;t right with the picture I was being presented with. I had questions, doubts, and those questions were never answered. Later on this solidified into atheism. Once you start pushing at that door you can never go back. I wish you luck on your journey and I can imagine how hard that is in a place like Oklahoma.

  I just have to say it again: your presentation, analysis, and exploration of your belief system that allows the listener to ask themselves the same questions, that this video is so articulate and concise, even though it clocks in over an hour, because it covers so a broad range of spiritual areas, but in depth, and offers logic over fear. <br><br>I hope you are teaching at some level in education, or at the least, continuing your channel bc it has so much food for thought.

  I love the term “spiritual, agnostic, atheist.” That definitely resonates with how I feel after my own deconstruction from Biblical-spirituality.
