You made me cry. So much of what you share resonates with me, and I applaud your courage and vulnerability. The disorientation is so hard to walk through.

I am 71 and I was at your age when I left all this behind. It was freeing for me to remove these dogmas created by white men and re-enforced by blinded women. There is no one's doctrine that is ever problematic free. Always, go with your inner light and that will lead you to truth. You are pulling down the veil of comfortable ignorance that others exist in. Believe me, most people would rather allow others to tell them what to do than to think for themselves. God is way beyond any man-made religions. Stay humble in your quest for truth and always stay open to what the divine beloved is presenting to you NOW! I am proud of you.

So glad you got out when you're young. It took me to at least my mid fifties to deconstruct. I'm almost 62 and although I regret the wasted years of total devotion to a literary character, I'm glad I'm out. Good for you! All the best.

When you started talking I was cleaning and I had to stop because you are describing what my brain thinks. I just couldn’t understand how they could say Trump was a Christian Man when everything we are taught in bible study as kids and so on does not apply to him and others. And every time I would go through the Bible with someone or hear sermons in church, there were always these contradictions that just didn’t sit well with me and I just didn’t understand and it confuse me.. I’m really glad that I found your channel

what i dont get as an outsider is the absolute shameless hypocrisy of calling a power-hungry non-believer, a sinful, prideful, spiteful person god's chosen one. As for you, it takes a special kind of person to question and to eventually defy lifelong religious indoctrination. Much respect.

I deconstructed as a soldier 22 years ago. Not because of what I saw, did, or was made privy to; but because of a test of faith I was challenged with by an evangelical guest preacher at my church when I was 14. He was preaching on the evils of atheism and challenged us to read the Bible from cover to cover, encouraging us to take notes so we could see every contradiction the evil atheists claimed were there, actually weren't when you took it all in without missing any context.
I did this. Three notebooks. One for contradictions, one for the deplorable/unforgivable acts, and one for things I liked.
Spent that summer reading and taking notes. The things I liked ended up mostly being Song of Solomon, because I was a teenage boy and emo as fuck. Barely took up any of the notebook. The other two overflowed into new notebooks. By the end of my challenge I was scared and closed it all off trying to forget it. I was supposed to have ammo against atheism, not becoming part of it.
Then I enlisted on 13 September 2001 at age 18. Shortly after turning 20 on deployment I took the challenge again, completing it within a month. Spent an entire three day weekend going over the notes with a fine-toothed comb. Came out of my cave for some food, declaring myself an agnostic to my best friend. By the time we returned to post I was able to admit to myself that I am an atheist. Those first few hours in public after going over my notes felt like everything I'd always been told would happen if I accepted god, but never felt. My biggest religious experience came from accepting religion is bullshit. lol

I would argue that Trump is the most important president in our history because it has disturbed every aspect of our society and has revealed deep multi-generational issues regarding family culture. The fact that tens of millions of adults will go to great lengths to argue and deny practical reality on a scale which we did not imagine is shocking. On a personal level, it is forcing many more millions to reflect on things which they normally took for granted, let alone thought about, and this video represents one person's journey which began with Trump.

This will help a lot of people. The lack of Christian values in this administration is insane yet so many follow without question. The Lord wants love and kindness in this world, not hate and anger.

I deconstructed fundamentalism several decades ago, long before Trump. I didn't know that "deconstruction" was what I was doing. I came to separate "the packaging" - everything a church teaches - from the actual spiritual figure at the core of it. The packaging is man-made. If it's useful for helping a person dial into what the spiritual figure was teaching / helping them to become a disciple of that figure - then good, but so often people deify the packaging itself, believing it to be the one single way to view the spiritual figure. At its heart is a refusal to think for yourself, an abdication of your responsibility to be an adult. Adults can take or leave the packaging. And when you have power-hungry people manipulating these people who want to remain child-like, the whole thing eventually falls in. The lesson is: grow up, stop thinking and acting like children.
