The "lo-fi" "dive bar" quality is because that part of the audio was recorded on a cell phone by someone in the audience. If you want to hear what the sound engineers intended, listen to the Broadway version, which was recorded live from their actual microphones.

Please keep in mind, The Other Boleyn Girl is historical fiction, there is very little fact in that book/movie. Also, while this song is a lot of fun, it really doesn't represent AB well. IRL, she was brilliant, pious, caring for the poor, and there is no evidence she ever cheated on H8. This song is more in line with what propaganda was said about her.

I think they filtered "You should try to get ahead" to highlight the irony. Her dad tells her to get ahead and instead she loses a head.

Also a shoutout to the animatic, I love that during the claps, Anne is tapping a fast forward button to show the song's jumping ahead (no pun intended that time) in time

21:50 IIRC, she actually stops singing and says "Let me tell you how it went down" in the live show. I love that they thought to give the actress a slight breather in a fast paced section and let the audience know that we're just getting the bullet points for a few years in succession.

I love the “Hen-er-y” thing coz it reminds me of Herman’s Hermits’ song “Henry VIII”. Which I think might have been intentional… 🤔

Stopping on "prêt à manger" and then immediately talking about musicality was so funny

So, the “Hen-a-ry” rhyme - is a reference to a Herman’s Hermits song: “I’m Henry the VIII I Am.” It’s a brilliant nod and rhyme.

Fun fact: her family coerced her to marry Henry and she was a good queen many just preferred Catherine. She had even been previously engaged with a man she seemed to at least somewhat like (family interference led to it being canceled. Said she wouldn't marry Henry till he divorced Catherine. And she was never confirmed to sleep with anyone. Also her and K. Howard who was also never confirmed to have actually committed adultery and only confessed in an effort to appease Henry was beheaded seemingly so he could remarry were cousins (K. Howard was also Jane's Cousin, and Catherine P. Later became Jane's SIL after she married her brother after Jane's death. And Anne was Catherine A.'s Lady in waiting, Jane was Anne's LIW, and K. Howard was Anne of Cleves' LIW. Soooook all of them are SOMEHOW connected)

 Love your videos!

I am an amateur history nerd specifically about the Tudor era so I just have to say- The Other Boleyn Girl is historically based, but it does not accurately follow historical record and basically dramatizes the false accusations used to bring her down, and the Catholic propaganda that became really commonly spread about Anne well after her death. She was by no means some saint but there is ZERO evidence she was awful to her sister or cheated on the king, LET ALONE did so with her brother. Just gotta defend my girl from the historically adjacent slander of Phillippa Gregory. 😂

The popstars that Anne boleyn based off are Lily Allen (the chorus one and two) and Avril Lavigne (the verses) chorus three is a mixture of the two
