Thank you for giving me a platform where we can appreciate the art created from the tragedies we each face in our lives. :_heartsper:

(not very) fun fact, in the musical, K Howard literally just stands there sobbing for quite a while after the song ends. Then she very casually just swaps right back into the old "bratty" persona and pretends like nothing happened, the mask is right back on

To anyone in the comments saying "this song portrays her as helpless, but in real life she pursued/seduced men"...
Children cannot pursue or seduce adults! Hope this helped ❤

Her song doesn't even go to Henry's reaction or her beheading, because to her it's not her death that was the real tragedy. It kills me so much.

as a not very fun fact/reminder: Catherine of Aragon was married to Henry for longer than Katherine Howard even lived.

Something i don’t see mentioned/noticed a lot, is how even in the first chorus she says "This guy is different" which implies that even at that age, at 13 years old, that was STILL not the first guy to take advantage of her.

Yeah. Just a not so fun fact i don’t see people talk about enough

Sam Pauly is the one singing in the clip you watched. She’s part of the Broadway cast. Honestly her performance is soooo good at portraying going from a naive kid (13) who was unwittingly taken advantage of to a 17-19 year old who has come to realize that she’s been abused and taken advantage of for most of her very short life. She was still a teenager when she was beheaded.

The studio version is good and I’ll never say the singing is bad, but Sam’s live performance just really sucker punches you. There’s even times when it’s dead silent after she finishes her number because it was that visceral for the audience. Just, so good.

Henry Mannox was not 23, he was 36 and she was 13. The age gap was 23 years

I kinda feel bad for you because the next sentence is "and then i was beheaded" all cheerful and happy again. Its a real emotional whiplash and mood breaker.

For years all I knew was the cast recording, the live show was a shock for sure.

Man, I'm 23 and I have a younger brother who is 13. I can't IMAGINE how anyone would think of someone that age as anything other than a child

What breaks my heart (apart from the obvious, god "this guy finally is what i want the friend i need" is so PAINFUL every single time) is that she was only 16-18 when she was killed. It's said that you could hear her crying before because she was terrified.
Like sometimes I think about showing historical figures what they achieved like showing Alexander Hamilton the Hamilton musical (his ego would implode i think) but for her, I wouldn't show her Six I would just give her a freaking hug
