  The absolute whiplash of Alex guessing the coin plot twist and then thinking Katniss just fired an arrow into the abyss for no reason even though she was carrying a dead bird back with her was wild.

  Cats are skittish but also, that cat specifically hated Katniss. He used to hiss at her all the time. After Prim died, he came to Katniss because she's all he has left of Prim. So when she threw things, he waited. And when she took him in her arms, he purred instead of hissing. So just like he's all Katniss has left of Prim, Katniss is all Buttercup has left of Prim, too. 😭

  One thing they don't explain in the movie is why Katniss believes Snow so easily.  It's not just "We promised never to lie to each other", it's not "Coin wants me dead", it's she knows Prim would not have been on the front line, even with her mom's signature.  For a person of Prim's age to be on the front line, the order had to be signed from HIGH up above.  And only one person would do that.

  The delayed explosion was Gayle's idea originally. That's why she said goodbye to him. She could never be with a man that orchestrated her sister's death, even unintentionally.

  I think he kinda glossed over the impact of Prim's death.  The fact that Katniss is in all of this because she volunteered to keep her sister safe only to have her killed right in front of her.

  Katnisses choice to shoot Coin after realizing she's turning into a dictator as well is genius especially cause she knows Snow is going to get merced either way

  Saw this somewhere, but the choice between Peeta and Gale wasn't just "Hot guy 1 vs Hot guy 2" like other adolescent dystopian books. It was a choice for Katniss between choosing to stay in violence and war or move on in a life of peace

  One of the first things we know about Katniss is how she never wanted to have kids because she didn't want them to be born in such a cruel world. The ending being her with her children and the man she loves makes me so emotional because it really shows how even after all the pain, Katniss found more than happiness: she found a safety she never thought she'd never have
