  For future reference you should look up the coefficient of expansion for specific metals. Bronze expands more and faster than steel so it was the heat jamming that thing in there. Better to put it in the freezer, the bronze will shrink faster than the steel.

  I have a feeling that bronze seat is deep and pinned for a reason. To keep oil pressure from shooting the seat out of the piston or valve body.

  Alec, when you replaced the balls in the oiler with smaller ones, the pressure has less surface area to act upon. This isn&apos;t as much of a problem for the main mechanism, but for the pressure release valve, it changes the force required to actuate the mechanism in a way more complicated than adjusting the spring for the change in diameter. I would tell you how to calculate it, but it&apos;s been a while since I&apos;ve done multivariable calculus. If you really want to be sure, I&apos;d talk to a friend who&apos;s good at &apos;maths,&apos; but tbh, it should be fine.
