  This came out before the walking dead. Also what I love is that the term zombie is not used once. It gives a different more realistic feeling to the movie than the typical zombie film.

  Even now, 22 years later, it still sends a chill down my spine when Jim is looking at the missing people posters. If you look carefully, there is a drawing done by a young boy/girl depicting her Dad killing her Mum. Chills, every time.

  Two things that always strike me with this. <br>1- The difference between the mindless brutality of the infected vs Jim&apos;s purposeful, chosen violence is SUCH a chilling juxtaposition. Such a visceral transformation and great acting by Cillian.<br>2- Beginning of the movie has Jim frantically and fearfully screaming &quot;Hello&quot; vs them choosing to make their SOS sign &quot;Hello.&quot; The first is this bleak, mournful panic whereas the choice to make it their sign comes off more hopeful and cheerful. I like that the end had such a playful and optimistic sort of relief.

  I remember as a teenager, I went to a VHS rental store, and the lady working there was an absolute film enthusiast. She said, “You have to see this – this movie scared me to death. To this day, zombies are my weak spot, especially the fast ones.”😊

  a couple of things - calling the disease Rage is a reference to Rabies, called Le Rage in french. for any brits who regularly go to France, warning posters with Le Rage written on them were a common sight at customs (the UK is rabies free so all imported animals are put under quarantine). also this film was the first to represent &quot;zombies&quot; as energetic that ran quickly instead of lumbering like most previous zombie films did. Dawn of the Dead from 2004 continued this idea and so it stuck.

  Fun Fact: The last nightmare you see Jim wake up from at the end was part of an alternate ending where they took Jim to a hospital to try and save him and he dies leaving Selena and Hannah to fight on.

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEPPgXuiE4o&amp;t=726">12:06</a> is one of my all time favorite horror movie moments. Jim being lost in a happy memory. POV of an infected outside staring into space, then suddenly looking down to see the candle light. Bang. Perfectly earned jump scare.
