  Not sure if this counts, but a lot of people question why it was Lily's love that defeated Voldemort and saved Harry, and not Jame's. No, it's not because a mother's love is different than a father's, it's because James was killed outright, he was never given a choice. Lily however, was asked by Voldemort to step aside (Per Snape's request), but she refused. And that's why it's powerful, she was spared, but chose to die for Harry anyways

  People over use the term plot hole. Just because someone made a bad decision doesn't make it a plot hole. The issue has to break built up rules or logic.

  Your Veritaserum answer is actually 100% canon. Fudge says in the Goblet of Fire: “certainly Crouch may have believed himself to be acting upon You Know Who’s orders, but to take the word of a lunatic like that”, so Fudge knows Veritaserum just makes people say what they believe is the truth.

  Regarding the point of the secret keepers, one would even think that there was a drive to improve the spell after the highly publicized death of the Potters, following their betrayal by their secret keeper. It is reasonable that Dumbledore, being an accomplished research wizard, went to work on it and had managed to get around the &quot;no keeping your own secret&quot; obstacle by the time the Second Wizarding War rolled around. Of course, the breakthrough may also have been made by somebody entirely different, whom the series never bothered to name, but Dumbledore at least had the qualifications and the motive to do it.

  On the Hermione &quot;Obliviate&quot; Plot-hole, there may be confusion, because the Movie version has Hermione perform &quot;Obliviate&quot; on her parents (you hear her say it directly). So perhaps there&apos;s some conflation going on?

  After Dumbledore tells Fudge about Crouch confessing using veratiserum in the Goblet of fire, Fudge says that hes sure thats what Crouch thought was true but he was a lunatic, so thats basically what you said. Also, if that was the main way to serve justice, people would just modify their own memories after commiting a crime.

  James and Lilly weren&apos;t their own secret keepers because they wanted to see their friends. &nbsp;<br><br>If James was keeper he would have to come out of the house to tell each of his friends the secret before they could enter. <br><br>But he knew that the house was surrounded, and he couldn&apos;t even peek his head out without risking getting it blown off. <br><br>And they used Peter because everyone assumed it would be Sirius and that would put him in danger.

  After seeing the video you mentioned at the end, I need to address the plothole about wizard poverty:<br><br>I think that plothole ignores the economic models of pricing and wages. Yes, wizards and witches have access to magic, making many muggle expenditures go away (if you are talented enough). BUT it also greatly limits the sources you can make wages. With muggles you can make a living repairing clothes or cleaning. Not so much with magical communities. And what would happen if suddenly most works in our society would vanish? There would be a lot of people without a job. There would be huge surplus of workforce with not enough jobs. It would depress wages. I believe that&apos;s the issue with wizard economy; not enough productive jobs to add value.<br><br>As far as I know, Malfoy&apos;s family got rich by trading with muggles, before statute of secrecy. And it makes sense. Muggle society is far larger, and they tend to produce a lot of excess for use, sales and storage. If Malfoy family could provide magical services to those muggles, muggles could had given load of valuables and gold for that trade. But after the statute of secrecy, magical community practically lost it&apos;s access to muggle surplus production, and their magical abilities lost value, since all other witch and wizards are able to use magic. What there is to do to make money in such economy? Especially when there&apos;s competition from other magical creatures like goblins.<br><br>And in economy with low (relative) productivity and innovations (those that would boost productivity), economic growth stagnates and people remain quite poor. Unless, of course, you have &quot;old money&quot;, or other valuable assets. If you could, say, provide loads for people or Ministry of Magic, with a generous interest rate, you could get a nice income and huge influence, given how important you would be for financing just about everything. Or if you own land and houses, you could easily generate rent income. But if you lack old money, what then?<br><br>Fred and George are actually few of the people who actually create additional value for magical community. They make joke products, sure. But people want those products! They are willing to spend money on those, which allows Fred and George to buy more raw materials, adding demand for those materials, giving producers greater income, making gears of economy spinning. And they could also hire help for their shop, creating job opportunities! <br><br>Arguable the fact most wizards and witches can (and probably do) try to do all magical tasks themselves, hinders their economy and keep wages low for most people. If all of them are jacks of all trades and masters of none, there won&apos;t be as high specialisation as is in muggle economy. This leads to stagnate growth, low wages and high prices. Muggle societies used to be quite poor too, when just about everything from food to clothes and furnitures were made in homes.
