This film so solidly captured the character of 1970's NYC culture. The edginess, the language, the bias perspectives, yet the feeling that under all that crusty surface, they were all real human beings, good, bad n'ooogleee.

Love how they weren’t sure if undercover cop was male or female and at the end Walter Matthau tells that undercover cop, “we’ll have an ambulance here in no time miss” classic

More than any Spike Lee, Martin Scorsese or Woody Allen film...this movie best shows a snapshot of a period of time in NYC. It's NYC in all its glory and mess. I love it!!

I obviously favor old movies, but this on is a real treat! Walter Matthau is a standout, and man that's saying a lot with this cast...

The most authentic NYC movie. The people are so realistic, and the mayor looks and sounds exactly like Ed Koch 4 years before he became mayor.

The way everyone talked to each other back then was very realistic I felt like I was in a time warp.

One of the funny things about this film is that the actor playing the Mayor looks so much like Ed Koch who would become Mayor 3 years later
