  The timeline is Edmond is imprisoned for 13 years, spends 3 months with Luigi and the smugglers, then spends the next 3 years building his new identity. The coming-out party was a few years after he got the treasure.

  This movie and the Man in the Iron Mask both based on the works of Alexandre Dumas, a French novelist. He is probably most well known in popular culture for the Three Musketeers but the Count of Monte Cristo is his greatest work. This is certainly the best movie adaptation but it still only captures a slice of what the book covers.

  It&apos;s amazing the novel was written 180 years ago and it still holds up so well for modern audiences. A lot of classics get overlooked or reworked when the originals are usually perfect.
