  When I was 6 years old, a boy twisted my arm at recess on the school playground because I told him didn’t want to be his valentine. It hurt, and I told my teacher, who I really admired. The nurses and my teacher all told me “Anthony just has a crush on you, sweetie.” At 6 years old, I was being taught by the adults in my life that if a boy is aggressive or violent, he’s into you. I also learned that saying no is dangerous, and that’s something I still struggle with today.<br><br>Edit: thank you for this video, this is an important conversation that needs to continue. No means NO!

  Many people don&apos;t realize that coercion doesn&apos;t always involve forceful words or actions. It&apos;s often cloaked in politeness and fake kindness, or passive aggressive manipulation.

  People get so bent out of shape when I tell them the overwhelming majority of women in many societies have been sexually assaulted. We still have so much work to do around getting people to understand what consent really is and what assault really looks like. 😬

  As an autistic woman, I often envy my male autistic counterparts. They are allowed to melt down and express that they need accommodations, but I am viewed as crazy when I finally crack.

  Fun fact I was sexually harassed at some point. The much older guy was asking if I wanted some as I was 16 so not legal, in distress crying over losing my phone on the bus. I said to leave me alone like twice before raising my voice and at that point he went: &quot;You could&apos;ve said no!&quot; mate I said no many times. All that&apos;s left in me is to scream to leave me alone. You say no and it&apos;s not good enough. You yell no and make it clear as day you are opposed to it and they both the perpetrator end bystanders tell you to quiet down and that you&apos;re overreacting. No matter what you do you&apos;re still the one in the wrong.

  Elementary Teacher here. Once I told the parent of a boy that he was obsessing over a particular girl and making her feel awkward. So I asked them to have a conversation about how to respect boundaries and how to build friendship. The parents, the mom included, laughed at how &quot;he&apos;s just a boy.&quot;<br><br>I told the girl&apos;s dad, and he laughed, too. (I asked him to affirm her feelings and how she might assert her boundaries.) MONTHS later, I get contacted by this dad asking what to do because his daughter is being bother by this boy. <br><br>Uuuuuummmmmm, I told you. I told all of youuuuu!!

  I’m in nursing school, for our mental health clinical rotation we went to our local rehabilitation facility. Breakout therapy groups were separated by sex. In the men’s group the emphasis was on “think about what your addiction does to those around you, think of how this impacts your kids or your partner, this is bigger than you” but in the women’s group it was the opposite “you have your prioritize your own mental health before you can help others, if you’re not okay you can’t take care of your kids properly, you need to think of you.” This was so impactful to me. It really solidified how much women think of everyone else and men think of only themselves.
