If the only way women are allowed to "make progress" in the world is to dress more like men, get rid of whimsy, remove authenticity, autonomy and sexuality... is that not creating a whole new cage of which to exist in?

Why do I wear blue lipstick? Because I’m trying to appeal to the Smurfs, obviously. I dress for the Smurf gaze.

the way the guy literally says "men can't control themselves, we are animals actually" while blaming women is disrespectful to men too like????

Instead of controlling what girls and women are wearing, let's focus our energy on prosecuting pdfs and SA predators, no matter the gender.

“Was it really my fault?” asked the Short Skirt. “No, it happened with me too,” replied the Burka. The diaper in the corner couldn’t even speak.<br><br>It’s never about the woman’s clothing. It’s always about the men’s desire for power, control and fear.

"If you're dressing up in a revealing manner, it's for the male gaze, which means you're a bad woman. You should be dressing up modestly so that MEN can find you respectable and attractive."<br><br>Tell me, how isn't the latter still revolving around men?

Curvier bodies get more heavily policed as well. I saw thin girls get away with dress code violations in high school ALL the time. Meanwhile I was treated like my shape made me a seductress by default and it was my responsibility to cover it up. I still don't like showing my arms or wearing shorts to this day, and I just turned 40.

purity culture is basically women being forced to change themselves just so they can be safe, and when a woman doesn't, they're to blame, because "men can't control themselves" or something

I wore baggy clothes my whole life and people did not make me feel like "one of the good ones". I was a slob, I didn't take care of myself, I was "a dyke" or I wanted to be a boy. And it didn't even stop them from calling me a whore when I hung around guys.

As a girl who dresses modestly for my OWN comfort, it's also EXTREMELY weird to essentially be congratulated by people for "choosing the right path," and then those SAME people give me side eyes if I choose to (lord forbid) wear something shorter than knee-length on a summer day.<br>It's like they cannot FATHOM that the way I dress is purely for my own comfort and not any sort of "moral" standing.

It pisses me off how men can say "oh yeah, we're savages who can't control ourselves" and all the other men just nod in agreement - but if it's a woman saying the same thing, she's immediately called a misandrist and her voice is drowned out by men going "NOT ALL MEN!"

I had to tell a friend recently that she shouldn’t feel guilt for being horny with her boyfriend, the guilt is created by purity culture, but somehow a many getting horny is normal while for women it’s meant to be guilt inducing??
