I am surprised that it is only 20%. I was feeling suicidal for years during perimenopause. Hormone replacement saved my life in so many other aspects as well.

As a psychotherapist, it’s discouraging to not have standard of care or best practices be a referral to a prescriber for hormone care evaluation. Male or female but esp females. That now seems strange to me. This really needs to change. There is so much education about hormones that is improving (Thank you Dr) and I also feel impatient it’s not fast enough, it hasn’t spread to my job of mental health care yet.<br> Thank you dr Newson for all of your amazing work. You have improved my understanding, my own hormone care, and you are making an incredible difference for women’s quality of life.

WOW! 😮 that was a heavy watch, but I am very glad I did watch it and I think it's very necessary. Thank goodness I never got PMDD/PMS but perimenopause brought me the closest to self induced ⚰. I think there should definitely be stronger links between periods/menopause and suicide than there currently is, hormones given when needed, and like you, Dr Louise, I despise the antiquity of the current models in women's health and think they belong in a museum. Thank you all for this video. ❤

I've been waiting for this! It has for decades been one of those things that you know and understand but "everyone" around are blind to. Thank you so much for this talk and the work you're doing.

My adopted mother waited years before she adopted me after losing, twins. I look back now, with her having severe child hood trauma (her and her mother in the war camps). She had SEVERE MOOD SWINGS! Violent at times, then extremely apologetic afterwards. She would be our cheerleader and supporter one minute then abuser the next moment. I do not believe she didn’t love us, I think she despised herself for abusing us. Therefore, in her early 40’s, I had just turned 8 and 1 month later she took her life. I now believe this was due to the lack of my mom having hormones leveled out after loosing the twins. I’m 64 now, and I still can remember her little bag of many different medications. Me and my two older sisters, Found out many years later her Dr. was arrested for selling scripts on the black market. Mostly psychoactive drugs…(a pill for every ill). Thank you ladies for sharing your wisdom, knowledge and care for other women that might be struggling in this space 🙏

My sister died by suicide at age 37. I believe she was perimenopausal. She was prescribed antidepressants no hormones.

If you regularly feel mentally overloaded even when nothing major is happening, Anwen Reid’s anxiety quiz might help you understand what keeps triggering that response.

what about post-partum? Suicide is the first cause of death during post partum in France. I was suicidal durint 4 months before diagnosed of bipolar sd, which hadn't be never as severe as then. Is there research on this topic? Thinking that hormone could change lives and with the feeling that nobody cares let me still shocked.. tanks again for your work

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is Secretary of Veterans Affairs Doug Collins 7. Dr Andrew Huberman 8. Dr Mark Hyman and every head of US health insurance companies, because this would save billions of dollars.
