As a practicing OB/GYN I find this video to be excellent and I’m going to recommend it to my patients.

Dr Haver, I love what you are doing for so many women out there. We are left to navigate this phase with barely any help.

I love your content and have been changing my own menopause journey with many of your suggestions and tips. I’m a Registered Dental Hygienist. One thing you said made me want to reach out. It would be worth your while to check the pH of your shake you put together. It is quite possible that it is fine, many electrolytes are actually over 7 pH. BUT many packets are not. That being said you may be still fine if you drink your shake in under 20 minutes. However, if you are sipping for hours and your shake is under 5.5 pH (many packets lower water to 2 pH- scary low, like Coke and Pepsi low) and heightened decay rate is a real issue. It takes your body 20 minutes to make enough saliva to raise the pH. If you are sipping for hours it can’t recover. That is if you have a healthy salivary flow.

I started on the generic patch, and due to the shortage, I asked my provider to switch me to the gel. He put me on the generic Divigel pouches at the same dose as my patch, and it's like night and day. The patch was doing the bare minimum for me, and I was still white knuckling my way through life. Divigel has been an absolute life saver, and I really do believe that a lot of people on the patch would be better off on the gel.

If only I could have heard this 20 years ago. Bless you for spreading the gospel on female challenges while aging.

I'm sorry your mom had to go thru that horrible disease. It changes a person when we have to stand by and witness their demise, while powerless to change it.

I have PMDD and undiagnosed ADHD (runs in my family) and the regular progesterone was giving me rage. It took me a bit to figure it out, I also take a small dosage an SRRI for my PMDD. Tried the vaginal and my OBGYN wasn't to keen on how effective it was and changed to Medroxy to protect my uterus. I'm still regular and also changed to Estradiol pill which I believe I absorb better than the patch. I'm feeling much better and I've been on the HRT for the last 3 years or so.
THANK GOD for Dr Mary Claire! I've been on the perimenopause journey for about 10 years and I remember when I started changing and I was about 36-37 years old.

😂 i’m laughing right now at the half hour mark.
I am definitely using perimenopause for comedy material!

Never thought I had to go through this.
I didn’t hear anything about this from any other woman.
Not my mom, not my aunt.
It’s not even my older friends.

So I pretty much only got about 20 years after graduating from college (24 y.o.) of being a regular adult.
Now I get to deal with this.

My great aunt, in her 80’s tried to warn me.
She told me when I was 24, to enjoy my young adult life.

The next thing I would know it I would be in midlife.
And then I would turn around and have gray hair and be in my 80s wondering what happened with the time.

We act like we have all the time in the world, until we don’t.

On the flipside, we can learn about people who live well pass 100, centurions, in the blue zones who are still hiking and laughing and enjoying life.

I think for us in the western culture, it’s all the stress that makes it harder.
That’s my hypothesis from the different research I’ve read and listened to so far. 😅

Your application advice for Estrace is brilliant! I've used it for years and felt it was a chore to extract every tiny amount from the applicator and then clean it. I switched to disposable applicators 6 months ago and feel guilty about the plastic waste. Roto-rooter for me going forth!

I am 57 now, but hadn’t become menopausal until I was diagnosed in Nov 2024 with hormone sensitive breast cancer and started chemo (Feb 2025 - April 2025). Caught early. I am now 1 yr post surgery, 10 months post radiation, and on Letrozole (taking Zometa infusions every 6mo.) looking for a new Primary Care Physician that has some specialty and interest in Women’s Health and Menopause (cross fingers). I am overweight (looking into micro-dosing GLP-1s) and though I lost 40lbs between diagnosis and radiation, that progress drastically slowed down — somewhat reversed — while on Letrozole and likely exacerbated by the removal of a lymph node under my right arm and a recent complication with Secondary Lymphodema.

Although I am doing well with my nutrition, supplement game, physical activity and water intake I am still working on my sleep habits. That said, I have noticed some light/early signs of GSM and am wondering outside of maybe applying a micro-dose of Estradial locally, getting a Power Plate and possible red light therapy tools (lol), what else should I be focusing on and will I ever be a candidate for a beneficial type of HRT (after my 4 additional years of Letrozole)?
