  Great content!<br>When I was a young guy I worked a few months as a mover. Nothing slows you down more than loose items. Pack tight and make the boxes full so they don&apos;t start collapsing as they get piled up. <br>Save the plants, mirrors, and valuables for a trip in your car.

  She creates perhaps the best common sense videos related to home ownership, buying, selling, and moving. &nbsp;They need to be about half as lengthy though.

  One important piece of advice I can offer people, because of experience: whether you are de-cluttering your for-sale- home, or that of a parent, it’s less stressful if you remind yourself, that is it better to remember your parents for who they are (were), than what they owned.

  I love your idea of the colored labels for EACH room! &nbsp;We moved from one state to another and hired a company that at time of pick up told me my stuff would arrive in a week in a different truck! What??? &nbsp;I was so thankful I had NUMBERED each box and had a list of what was in each number. They were confused, I said every box needs to be delivered. They new I had kept track of everything. Was it work YES! But EVERY SINGLE BOX arrived undamaged. &nbsp;the time and effort paid off. ( I wrote the number on the box with a giant marker. No way the label would come off. )

  Unless you are really attached to your furniture, consider cost to move it versus cost to replace it. &nbsp;Sure, there may be a few things you want to keep , but the less you move the more you save. &nbsp;An estate sale can work in your favor to sell what you have and use those funds to help offset the cost of new furniture .

  Regarding the change of address: not just for the post office! Update that default address in Amazon, Target, anywhere you order online. Ask me how I know.

  I think you should periodically declutter and get rid of what you don’t want or use. Ideally, I would like to try to declutter twice a year, but I’m bad about not doing that. I think it’s good for older people to declutter some so their children don’t have as much to do later.

  Just discovered your channel and am watching all videos! &nbsp;I often slow down the playback speed so I can take notes! &nbsp;One recommendation, label boxes on all four sides especially if your boxing up early or storing them until moving. &nbsp;I rented a temporary storage space and moved items into the space as I purged and cleaned out the house. &nbsp;Off and on visits to the storage space, I would pull out a box and put it back and it was helpful to have the boxes labeled on all sides, also I found that at the storage space, I would tend to declutter once again, asking myself if I really needed that item, or if that item was really headed to my new place. You&apos;re a gem! &nbsp;Glad your channel came up!

  When I learned that moving companies only insure by weight, not value - I saw no reason to use them, especially considering what they charge. Instead, for my move, &nbsp;since I had already used a fantastic hauling company prior and they did out of state moving, I called them. &nbsp;They charged by the person, by the hour. &nbsp;I secured the rental moving truck, but had them drive it (truck rental company has to know who is driving, etc), between houses. &nbsp;It took them a full day (and into the night) but knowing that the trucks were never unattended, was a good feeling. &nbsp;We decided to rent two large trucks - and there was plenty of room, as opposed to renting just one. &nbsp;The guys decided which items went into which truck - so it all went great and I saved some money. &nbsp;I made sure to rent blankets for them from the truck rental company - so they would have everything they needed - as would a moving company need. The only problem that I had to deal with was I own two large dogs that do not do well in kennels. &nbsp;So as to keep them out of everyone&apos;s way, I put them in my car, windows open in the shade so I could take care of them throughout the day - and they basically just slept on their beds all day. &nbsp;They were super happy because mom was still near by - and I knew they weren&apos;t stressed out in a kennel.
