  The narrative under this is amazing. Will Shen spending years grinding it out, working his way up. Gets a once in a lifetime creative opportunity only to be drowned in corpo bureaucracy and watch the dream die. This talk must've felt amazing for him. Big respect.

  started ryujin after watching this. outside the interviewer's office there's an NPC you can talk to, and one of the dialogue options is "this is a conversation in a hallway, why do we need documentation for it" - just like how will described bethesda's practices. the devs were actually crying for help

  The video game industry's inability to properly credit the actual movers and shakers behind their games is why customers follow development companies as opposed to developers themselves. They can label someone 'Lead Developer' or 'Lead Level Designer' all they want but if those people are taking all their cues from Jeremy the intern, then calling them 'Lead' is giving them more credit than they deserve. Then Jeremy leaves and we're left wondering why Bethesda can't deliver good products anymore despite all their 'Leads' remaining.

Also the completion time doing those quests with and without skinning is insane.

  I could have hallucinated it, but I swear the ghost lady mentions the earthquake being why she fell and died, but its been awhile since I&apos;ve done that quest<br>edit: oh the presenter mentions it like 5 minutes later lol

  I work in a field where the organization I work with now used to be really innovative and has a storied history. But the industry has since caught up with them. They use all this proprietary technology instead of enterprise solutions that the industry does better. They’re solving problems that don’t need to be solved, which creates unintended problems. The kicker is they honestly believe they still are the best, when really they are just the best funded. My office is trying to change the culture, but we’ve been told it’ll be like pushing water up a mountain without a cup. It’s been worse than that.
