A very comprehensive meniscus tear guide. One of the best videos I have seen, so far, covering this subject.

Great video 8 months ago I got a complex medial meniscus tear I didn't want surgery I read too many stories of it not being successful and I'm so glad I didn't get it more so after watching this video...I've made a lot of progress myself by doing my own PT from watching youtube video's, I'm 70 when you are older you might not heal as well so I am refusing surgery...

I have been searching for medial meniscus tear surgical procedures. Your video explains the root cause, what/how in very details. I am 66 old, recently x-ray showed osteoarthritis on my left knee. My orthopedic doctor has already mentioned that I have meniscus tear will need surgery. I will seek for alternative rehab option. You’ve earned my subscription. This video deserves more views. Thank you!

I apparently tore my meniscus going up two steps at one time. I heard a loud crack followed by a very intense pain. I could not take another step. I had some workers at my house, in fact doing work on the same steps I was on. I asked one of the guys to please go get my crutches which were stored in the shed. That's how bad it was. I could not walk otherwise. The next day I actually felt better but I did go to the ortho guy. He said sounds like you tore your meniscus. He said ice it up give it a couple of days. If it doesn't get better get an MRI. Here's the prescription. Ok that was not helpful. So I left. 3 days out I'm actually feeling better no more crutches Thanksgiving day approaching and I'm glad I'm better. Friday after Thanksgiving I'm sitting in my home office and I hear the mailman outside. I jump up from my chair and run down the upstairs hallway mail in hand, I'm almost to the steps when I hear that same crack I heard a few days earlier but louder and fall to the floor in so much pain I can't even describe. After a few magic words I drag myself on the floor to my bedroom and lay in bed. Put some pillows under my leg and there I stayed till my husband came home. I could not move for 3 days but I made an appointment for the MRI. The result medial meniscus tear confirmed. The dr. said I should get surgery. I'm 72 an avid snowboarder and here is winter coming down the pike and it looks like my season is over before it started. So I ask him, will I be able to snowboard again? He said not like that. Will it heal? He said maybe maybe not. Some people heal and they are fine others don't. He's looking at his watch. I ask him can you show me on the MRI where the damage is? Too many questions, but he shows me. He is supposed to be a very good orthopaedic guy, not much for bedside manner. At the end of the day I decided to let him do the surgery. He said 4 to 6 weeks for recovery. He said I have a very healthy knee otherwise and no arthritis. Dec 23 I have the surgery. Not terribly painful afterwards, didn't need but 1 pill of mega strong pain killer, but it has been nagging non stop pain. 30 days out, still some swelling, dumped the crutches at day 3 as per drs orders. He said just walk and start the stationary bike as tolerated and very easy. walking mile and a half a day, 6 sessions of therapy so far. Close to full range of motion, can't kneel on the left knee, it's too painful still can squat to 90 degrees. I do all the exercises everyday. I wear an elastic brace, stim every night ice and elevation. wrap my knee in elastic bandage every night and use topical Diclofenac Sodium every night. Have no idea if it works but the knee feels better every morning. I did tear the ACL in my right knee many years ago, also snowboarding and I feel like it was easier recovering from that, or maybe I'm getting too old to remember. I know this is long winded but I hope it helps someone, it's a very annoying injury and I don't really think it's going to be good in 6 weeks, not even 8 weeks. If I were to do it all over again I would insist to the doctor to prescribe therapy to help with recovery and then if that didn't work THEN do the surgery. Hindsight is 20/20 though. I also find that surgeons rarely, if ever, advise you not to have surgery.

Meniscus tear in right knee 4 years ago. Dr. sent me to a ortho specialist who wanted to give me a cortisone shot. I don't really know why my instinct was to decline, but now I'm glad I did. Went to another ortho who wanted to do the trim surgery which I had planned on doing, but started googling others experiences and some where saying it got better with time. So I declined the surgery and after about 18mo the pain seemed to diminish and now only have occasional flareups. This is the most informative info I have seen/heard and totally justifies my decisions. And now my other knee has a tear so I will be utilizing your exercises.

Thank you so much for an amazing video. It is beyond baffling to me. How physicians are allowed to inject Cortizone into joints when over 40 years ago it was shown that anything above three injections can considerably deteriorate soft tissue up to three injections. It showed no degeneration.

Over three massive degeneration, unbelievable that physicians are still doing this and insurance companies are still paying for it to destroy people

Quad stretch is the last thing I'd want to be doing with a knee injury. Squats also, worst thing you can do with torn meniscus
