You can live without knowing what Carling tastes like. Although to be fair it would probably be considered premium in the US.

Hi , pubs are vital they bring folks together , my grandad went every sunday to his local after my nan died , it was a lifeline for him it gave him somewhere to go for a chat with other locals . When he died we had his wake in that pub and they all raised a glass to him .youll find a pub to suit everyone even me a non drinker now of 7yrs

So, there's 2 interesting Pub names in my general area. One was called "The Woolly Pig" in Beccles.. idk..just always made me chuckle. And on a more serious note, is the "Never Turn Back" in Caister-on-Sea, named in memory of the 1901 Caister Lifeboat disaster, which claimed the lives of 9 lifeboatmen

I have been: The staff behind the bar, the nutter who had the pint drawn as he walked in the door. I am now the wise old one with the cluster of hernias. So, yes, it's accurate.

The best pub name story I remember was a pub called the "Whippet Inn" (I don't know if you have Whippet's in the States - they are a breed of dog, somewhat associated with the north of England),
They applied to have the name on their license changed since they were 'intending to specialise in selling cider'. Therefore they wished to be called the "Whippet Inn Cider Bar".

Oh... and there was also a pub near me called "The Office" so when your other half called, you could legitimately say "Sorry, I'm still in The Office, I'll be home soon"

Britain's last hangman, Albert Pierrepoint, ran an old pub near Manchester called 'Help the Poor Struggler'.

There was a gang of us when I was in my 20's, (around 40 of us), we used to fill this tiny country pub very weekend and had a lock in until early hours. The Landlady was an alcoholic who used to go sit in the snug with the local bobby and just told us to keep the noise down a bit. Great times, a tiny disco floor lit up. 👍👍👍👍
