It's not a skit, it's an entire TV series and this is a clip.

That entire episode, and most of the series, is really excellent stuff. It's a show that produced some really iconic moments.

In the UK most people of a certain age know at least a few of the phrases "Down with this sort of thing!", "Girls/drink/feck/arse!!" (Delete as applicable), "this one is small, those are far away", "the money was just resting in my account" and "go on, go on, go on, go on, go on.".

This is a clip edited together from the series. The part usually cut is Ted standing in front of their car trying to explain things. Its only later in the show when he ventures outside it appears news has spread so fast, but the edit here makes it seem immediate. This episode has a great build-up to the final gag.

Father Ted was set in Ireland and written by two Irish guys, but it was produced for British TV.

Great show! It's really sad that the guy who plays Father Ted (Dermot Morgan), died the day after they finished filming the final episode of the series.

The joke with Mrs Carberry, the lady obsessed with the Greeks, isn't some deeply hidden meaning. It's simply that having been triggered into an agitated rant, she returns to a completely normal and unflustered state at the click of a finger.

You need to watch the full show to understand some of the context.
