Puffin Trek looks like a great little company I’d never heard of before. Love the idea of dinghy cruising in France without having to tow your own boat all the way.

I hate to say it, but it does this novice sailor's heart good to see such a seasoned salt struggling (just a bit) with an unfamiliar rig. There really is, as Dorthy said in Wizard of Oz, no place like home. You make single handing your own craft a ballet, and some of us wonder if we will ever be that confident and handy; so thanks for showing us your human side! (I'm 100% sure that if it was your intent, you'd master the SCAMP perfectly).

What a great idea to simply hire a boat and go cruising for a few days. I really like the simplicity of it – just take a small boat and see where it takes you.

Hamlet was known to say, "O God, I could be bounded in a Scamp's nutshell and count myself a king of infinite space"

With the water ballast in, I can't think of a more stable cruising dinghy. You can't buy one for love or money in the UK which is perhaps a comment on how much their owners enjoy them. If you really want a Scamp you are going to have to build one. Thanks Rodger, I very much enjoy your videos.

Don't be grumpy, Roger! I'd give my right arm to try a Scamp for an overnighter, lovely boats. Loved the video, x

Slightly off topic - I'm currently reading Sailing the Shallows. It's an absolute delight, thank you. 😊

Scamps are popular in the Pacific Northwest and in California. Most Scamp sailors have downsized from much larger cruising boats, and camp on these little boats. They are great sailors, like the original British West Wight Potter, they are easily sailed and take some very crappy weather! A Scamp is a delight to behold!

In one of the shots of the Ilur and tent setup, the aft anchor line looked like a fishing pole hanging out the back and for a second I was amazed because you never fish. Love the Scamp, love the channel.
