What you built is basically a compressor pump system used for borewells. You can't use airstone inside the pipe. As air stone creates small bubbles water moves down on gravity and density and air will move up freely. You should set up venturi tube (easy to make), then you get expected pressure to pull water up. So, 2 things<br>1. No air stones. <br>2. Venturi setup.

I used your basic idea and applied it to a four chamber container with a snug lid. The fourth chamber holds an air stone to oxygenate the water prior to returning it to the tank. The system has only been in service for a short time but all my numbers are great. d
