It was literally frozen for all 2 million years.<br>Specimens included DNA from mastodons, reindeer, hares, trees (birch, poplar), and shrubs.<br><br>Like uranium and other radioactive materials, DNA has a half-life. <br>Lots of non-radioactive things do, but most people only know about radioactive half-lives. <br>The half-life of DNA is 521 years - this is a known and provable fact.<br>Which means that the maximum any DNA could last is about 6.8 million years, even if it&apos;s frozen in perfectly ideal conditions to preserve it for the longest time possible.<br>Any DNA older than that would completely degrade into nothing before we could dig it up today.<br><br>Sorry T-Rex, we just can&apos;t get your 66 million-year-old DNA without a time machine.<br>And extra sorry, dilophosaurus, 186 million years is way way too long for your DNA.

  A 6-foot turkey is fucking scary. That&apos;s one of the themes of the book and movie, actually. Modern humans out of touch with nature, not knowing what&apos;s safe and what&apos;s dangerous.

  You cannot imagine how I felt when i saw this in theathers with 6 or 7 yo. Changed my life as a kid. The movie, the gifts in flakes, merchandising, sticker albums, magazines... toys... simply makes me happy every time wheen I see a reaction, remembering these magical years of childhood.
