  OMG my favorite Captain (Steeeve) looking at a movie I worked on! &nbsp;I shot the opening of the Airplane through the clouds against the moon. &nbsp;It was my first studio/union job as a Director of Photography. &nbsp;I also did shots at the end of the movie of the plane taking off again. &nbsp;Zuckers were a little bit nuts in person. &nbsp;But they made a hell of a funny comedy classic movie I am proud to be a part of. &nbsp;The actors played it straight which made it so much funnier. They had no idea what they were getting into initially but acquitted themselves spectacularly. &nbsp;I love the sound of the prop plane inside the cabin for what was a airline jet. &nbsp;There&apos;s so many little jokes &amp; asides in this. I started watching it the other day in 2026 and right off the bat this thing hits the ground running with laughs and never lets up. Oh and please you can call me Shirley.

  This movie will never get old. The fact that the actors treat it like a serious movie is why it’s so hilarious. Just genius.

  Barbara Billingsley ( June Cleaver) was funny as the jive lady.

  I was with TWA in 1980 when Airplane was made. The location shots were all at LAX at the TWA terminal (3), &nbsp;including curbside, the ticket counter (LAX was all 1 level then, before the 2nd level was built prior to the &apos;84 Olympics), the gates, baggage claim, and the hangar (the emergency vehicle scene - you can see an L1011 in the hangar with engine #2 open). The actual aircraft exteriors were of 707-131B N6721 which I worked often as a flight attendant and supervisor starting in 1974. The instrument panel shots were from her too. <br>You guys did a GREAT job on this video, but it was jarring to realize that Gary is too young to have experienced those days, or even TWA!

  What amazes me most about ‘Airplane!’ is how much enjoyment it still brings after all these years. Example: “Well, not for another two hours.” “You can’t take a guess for another two hours?”<br>Thank you, guys, for presenting it with the perspective from two pilots. Awesome!
