  I agree. Jesus never revealed himself to me and I was a Christian for 40+ years. Stumbled upon this just now.

  We can't help what we find out when we get older. For me, it is a sign of maturity. I remember when I found out that Santa was not real, I was sad and angry at the same time at my parents but of course, it didn't last because the gifts still keep on coming every Yule season. Just like now, days are precious now and the way I looked at my kids, how getting older is it as it should be with the rest of the millions of species on earth.

  Thank you brother, I feel very much the same way for a very long time ,since in my early teens. I'm in my  forties now and  nothing has changed. I've been shunned, ostracized and condemn for my beliefs or rather disbeliefs. I can go on and on but mainly, I just want to thank you for your positive and meaningful contribution.

  Totally! Same thing with me. Age 40 my religious beliefs unravelled. I was TERRIFIED of going to HELL my whole life. I still am--but much less now that I've been an unbeliever for 10 years. It's taken 10 years for me to lose my damnation ANXIETY. My religion was Catholicism. I was hard core. My whole family and network still is. So I've been keeping my thoughts in the closet. It's not easy. But I can't come out yet. BUT--I haven't closed the door on a GOD. There still might be some force that is keeping everything going. I like to think, if there is a God, he or it is simply REALITY. Whenever I act accordingly to reality things work out fairly well. Whenever I neglect reality things go bad. While I've stopped praying to Jesus, I still call out to GOD sometimes. I don't know if I am heard or if my prayer redirects me towards REALITY. Good luck, brother!

  Took me till about the 25 year mark. &nbsp;I used to go down the aisle at church and &quot;accept Jesus into my heart&quot; every several months or so. &nbsp;I never felt a single thing. &nbsp;It just never happened.<br><br>I started to realize I was just sticking to what I knew, avoiding contradictory information at all costs. &nbsp;After not having that stuff reinforced constantly for several years, the spell just fell away and I could finally think clearly without constantly looking for rationalizations for the existence of God.
