https://www.dralexnewsletter.com/ Join the community by signing up to my daily newsletter! Practical health advice, straight to your inbox, every morning. I'd love you to join me.

It's called The Long Game, and it's an extension of everything I do here on the channel. Every morning I'll send you something short, whether that's a thought I've had that day, a tip you can put into practice, a piece of research I found interesting, or something I've learned from years of seeing people at their worst in A&E.

Most take between thirty seconds and a couple of minutes to read, so it fits around a normal morning, certainly shorter than my videos anyway...

I've called it The Long Game because that's what all of this is. There are no shortcuts and no quick fixes in anything I teach. It's small things done consistently over many years, and that's what genuinely changes your health in the end.

It's free, and you can sign up here: https://www.dralexnewsletter.com

This is brand new, and so the first few emails may end up in your spam, as with all new email newsletters, but hopefully this will soon sort itself out....

Let me know what you think!

If you’d like to support me, the best thing you can do is click the like button and subscribe. It really helps these videos reach more people who might benefit from them, and it allows me to keep making them!

Best wishes,
Alex

My grandmother is my biggest inspiration. She went ziplining at 94. Made up her mind to move from her own house to a seniors apartment around 96 because she was bored and wanted more activities. One day I got a picture of her, around 98, and she was sitting at an outdoor table with a couple of friends in the back of a pickup truck drinking cocktails. I called my mom to find out what the heck grandma was up to now? Well her apartment building entered a float in the local parade. The idea was to show residents having fun and she was the oldest, most active resident! Her 100th birthday she partied like she was 18. She even drank a shot at 1 restaurant we went to because they said that's what they offer people for thier birthday 😂 She lived to 101 and was doing her daily excercises, making her bed and getting in and out of the bathtub on her own right up to the last few months. My goal is to be exactly like her! ❤

This is no surprise to me at all! I am happier now in my late 60s (I retired early from my own business at 59) than I ever was when I had a career. The reason: I am doing now what I did as a little child, wandering around the garden and countryside, farmland etc just looking at nature, the elements, walking in the rain, looking after my pets, growing some plants. Creating paintings., enjoying music and dancing to it. Interesting you enjoy being with your older friends and get a lot out of it. I think older people should mix with younger people more (and I don't mean grandchildren) - don't just go to community events etc which are full of people your own age. Make your own food from scratch have a routine of tasks throughout the day and plan things for the future! I think it is the best of times!

I believe the key to living a long healthy life is to: eat less, move more and have a positive mental attitude. Your videos seem to support this ❤

I opted out of the aging process about 10 years ago. My friends chuckle when I tell them that, but it is working so far. Don't let the old man in!!

What a wonderful video.
I was diagnosed with stage four cancer last year. Two different types of chemotherapy/ radiotherapy/ brachytherapy. and I am still here!
Just started Pilates 3 weeks ago and am loving it! It’s chair Pilates as my bones are weakened from the cancer and treatment, but thought well, work on my core and muscles. Oh and applied for an allotment and got a call to take on a half plot! Perfect!
Just saying, there can be good times, even when things seem really bad. I appreciate not for everyone but it’s good to still keep on keeping on. ❤

I agree with this; but, my approach is to stop worrying about the world and enjoy the time left. It’s a bit easier for me as I live in the woods deep in the mountains of the PNW. I also changed my diet and get plenty of exercise. Nice way to spend retirement imo. I prioritize health, time with the grandkids and long walks in the forest with my pup. What else do I really need…

I am a 79 year old woman who has always lived my life as positively as possible, maybe being more than 2months premature in 1946, almost not making it, not walking until age 2.5 as my parents didn’t realize I wasn’t seeking to walk because my vision was eventually estimated at 20/1000. But it was mostly correctable, it just meant strong glasses + some eye surgeries, a couple of wonderful teachers who recognized I was bright and just needed some caring help to recognize and reach my potential. I went on to graduate 7th in a class of 254, and eventually got a masters degree that allowed me to have a very rewarding career helping others strive to reach their potential despite some struggles. I have tended to look at any struggles as an adult as “a bump in the road” that I will get beyond and continue to thrive in my best life.

Nothing airy-fairy about this at all. Thoughts and beliefs inform expectations, which inform actions and behaviour, which affect health and wellbeing. Makes complete sense
