I walk an hour every morning. I get around 7000 steps. No phone just pray and listen to the sounds of nature. Started this 10 years ago. I work in a grocery store so by the end of the day I end up with around 14000 steps daily. I walk at 6am no one around it's my daily feel good meditation! I've also changed my diet and over the years I've gone from 220 lbs to 115 lbs. My mood and sleep are fantastic now😊

I just finished my 5th daily walk. Im 73, obese, have 2 new knees. This is first time in a decade I havent been in knee pain. My previous average steps were 2,000/day. Yesterday I hit 4,500!!! My goal is 7,500. You are 100% correct re more energy, better mood, etc. Ive been off my Zoloft since spring and doing great re mood. My AFib has not been around for 8 months… that is a record. I cannot say enough about how great walking has been for me.

Regular physical activity also reduces anxiety too.

5000 steps is doable. 10,000 seemed insurmountable. Thanks for this!

I'm 75 and I've got a little step counter that clips onto my waistband. I've gone from next to nothing to 3,000 steps a day. Hoping to keep increasing. Have also improved my diet and trying to do a few exercises every day. My Kidney function is improving and I am now fitter than I was 10 years ago. Thank-you so much Dr. Alex...

This is absolutely true!! I’ve lost 20 pounds since March 2026. I’ve started walking every single day for 30minutes, do weight training 5 days a week and only eat whole foods. I’m now completely off my blood pressure medication and I’m so grateful for a healthier body!!

I'm 65, about 30 lbs overweight. Been mostly sedentary for a decade. Had spine surgery in March and was told that the best general exercise for rehab is walking.

I found your channel in April and since May 1 have been following the checklist: cold shower, walking in morning sun, protein first, water. I've since added in: walks after meals, resistance training, 7pm dinner cutoff, 12-14 hr fast window. I'm trying to get a consistent sleep schedule.

All of those things you recommended are working great. Im making sure to keep my own docs in the loop on my efforts.

🙂

Sometimes I think you are talking directly to me!! I was a very sedentary person. When I was diagnosed with diabetes and high blood pressure about 2 months ago, I bought a walking pad and have been walking every day since. I dont count my steps but I do about 20 minutes of walking daily at a moderate speed. I am already feeling a lot better. And when I check my B/P and BS after a walk it is always lower. Thank you for what you do to help those of us trying to figure things out!😊

This is such a fantastically presented set of inspiration. You notice stuff in the data that no one else has pointed out. There are now a few thousand less of us headed to ER.

Hi, wanted to say thanks. I had a health issue earlier this year and just started walking after a while. At first just casually twice a week, then a bit faster, then a few more times a week, then i added resistance training. After just five month i can start reducing medications for diabetes and blood pressure and i am coming ever closer to my weight goals. Thanks for advocating for small improvements that remain sustainable.
