  Alexander the ok had nice videos about Polaris +Transit submarine launched balistic missiles with satelite navigation and AIRS inertial navigation. They have a few things slightly off-topic, but they are still worth watching. Not every youtuber has team of professionals behind him.

  The PSRE (Propulsion System Rocket Engine), once it&apos;s in operation, contains very precise gyroscopes and accelerometers which are continuously monitored by the flight computer. &nbsp;So basically, it&apos;s using what is known as inertial guidance or dead reckoning. &nbsp;When it reaches the predetermined window in space, it releases the warhead. &nbsp;From there, it&apos;s just gravity that brings it down to the target. &nbsp;For a MIRV system, it releases one, the repositions itself and releases another warhead, and so on until all warheads are released.

  I would like to point out a big difference between aircraft or submarine gyros and those used on spacecraft. On spacecraft gyros have to keep their orientation in space whereas on earthbound vehicles the gyros are also long term pendulums, meaning that on airplane or sub going halfway around the globe, the blue side still points to the sky and the brown side still points down... otherwise going halfway around the globe would make you think you&apos;re upside down. Going into space is simpler as far as the gyros are concerned.

  As a matter of fact, with MIRVS, you get MORE areal damage from 5 50kt weapons than ONE 200kt or so warhead
