Why is the MI6 building so damn obvious?

Let me know if you know what the windowless building in Aldgate is. My guess is a █████████████████. Also, get your travel eSIM now with eSIM io: https://go1.esim.io/Lltr/lukeosullivan2

If MI6 can dig a tunnel under the Thames for £12.5m they should get out of the spying business and just do that.

They use that building as a distraction. The real MI6 building is an abandoned Gala bingo in Burnley.

I absolutely love the architecture of the building. It really does look like an office fortress

1:22 For anyone wondering, MI-13 and MI-18 were never assigned because it was determined the 3 and the 8 could look ambiguous when handwritten or smudged on a typewriter. So instead of assigning one but not the other, they left both unassigned and simply skipped to the next number.

Security through obscurity doesn't work in the modern world. If your enemies are going to be able to find your building anyway, there's no point trying to hide it

The lunchtime drunkenness of civil servants requires that they have an obviously shaped building to stagger towards.

Fun fact; when in The World is Not Enough, Skyfall and Spectre the building was destroyed, the SIS/Mi6 staff cheered on the special screenings held for them.

Update: HOLY SHIT THANK YOU FOR ALL THE LIKES Y’ALL.

The windows on the main building look like the ones from computer games where the devs just leave it green or blue to imply a curtain, or some kind of opaque window.

It always kinda amuses me how many countries made their secret services official secrets, like... either we all know that we have a secret service, or we are to assume our country is too incompetent to have a secret service.
