  Sayuri trying to save her family is probably meant to reflect the complex and even contradictory feelings that victims of abuse suffer. She killed the not awful families out of envy. So she probably wanted to be able to play happy family with her own since they finally returned to the scene of the crime. Her obviously having been a mentally disturbed child in life now combined with of being a specter doesn't bode well for her mental state.

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3GLME3_uOk&amp;t=1173">19:33</a> &nbsp;as a survivor of child abuse, I think Sayori is crying because this grandma with no ties to her is doing more for her than her family ever did. It was an extreme act of kindness from her PoV and quelled the grudge by reminding her that good people still exist. That kind of validation is really hard to put into words, but I often get teared up when my husband or others get angry on my behalf for how I was treated.<br><br>ETA: thought on my comment more, the validation of her worth was what broke the grudge against the living. She acted as “if I can’t have one neither can you” out of hurt, but Norio’s grandma got fiercely and violently angry on her behalf. Someone else carrying that rage for you makes it easier to stop and assess things more rationally.

  If grandma said she caused enough trouble in her life and not just when she tortured the ghost girl’s family it makes me wonder what she did in her youth?

  I watched the movie first.... They changed the story a bit... But, I immediately knew with the name &quot;Sayuru&quot;... THE GRANMA IS AWESOME.....

  watched both Liverleaf and Hi Score Girl. This guy&apos;s work is a mixed bag of themes. His artwork is unique, as it could be used for either horror or comedy

  I read this story after my mom passed away, I enjoyed the story but the grandma and her attitude towards living well really helped with the mental space I was in, I&apos;ll always remember and be grateful for that.
