In certain species, such as chimps and wolves, showing teeth is a sign of aggression, so yes, in some circumstances smiling can be considered creepy

Youtube's policy on censoring anything to do with suicide is so fucking stupid- how are we supposed to have serious conversations or consume any art/projects/media pretaining to it like this?

really interesting story, simple and mature. the gore doesnt even feels like shock value with how methodical it shown and how depressing yet believable protagonist struggle is actually make you want to root for him.

Probably based at least somewhat on the real-life cult Aum Shinrikyo, the founder was named Shoko as well (plus the cult name is similar)

There are a lot of active cults in Japan, and many of them are directly involved in politics, be it through their own political parties, or through supporting individual campaigns. Celebrity members are a big recruitment tactic as well, pretty similar to Scientology here in the West. Happy Science even tried debuting an idol group at one point to try and recruit more members via fans.

I remember the time I was nearly forced to join a cult. Good times.

Sounds like a fun one for people who like cult stuff.

I usually don't get into the cult ones because I usually find the cults to be too over-the-top to be as widespread or as powerful as they're made out to be.
